Hosted by Yoga Therapy Ireland
Cultivating the capacity to be in effort with ease is the invitation of yoga and mindfulness. The intention of the workshop is to deepen our practice by exploring the qualities of effort and ease in our bodies as we practice.
Inspired by Katonah Yoga we will look at embodied patterns of where we work too hard in the body and we will refine our practice by using our legs and pelvis to substantiate us.
We will welcome in ease, freeing up old patterns that keep us repeatedly stuck and often contracted in parts of our bodies.
We will explore our tendency to go into postures either working too hard or not really working at all and explore how that might also show up in how we live our lives.
We will see that by working dynamically with the polarity of effort and ease we become skilful on our mats and take that awareness and practice out into our lives.
Through asana, pranayama and mindful inquiry we will…..
Play with patterns of over-efforting in the body
Experiment with polarity of effort and ease in downward facing dog, standing postures, forward bends and hip openers
Exercise the mindful art of attention to directly experience the magic of holding opposites.
Use mindful inquiry to explore how we can work dynamically with ease and effort to live more skilfully
